Why does my mother ask so much of me?

A family constellation takes place as a group session. The group consists of individually registered participants. Sometimes friends join together, but in general the participants are not related to each other.

A participant in the group introduces a question about which he or she wants gain a better insight. The questioner chooses other participants from the group and sets them up as representatives in the room.

Often these participants will represent family members of the person raising the issue. However, they can also represent an event or, for example, a blockage the questioner experiences in daily life.

 The initial setup immediately gives an insight in the situation and the relationships in the family system. This is also known as a soul level representation.

The arrangement also shows the dynamics of the issue. The constellationer will observe what is there and on that basis will ask the representatives questions about their feelings and attitude towards each other and the situation.

In this way, possible entanglements may come to light. These entaglements may have have led to stagnation in the participant’s current life with regard to the issue.

Next step will then be to get the system moving. Representatives will literaly move positions and this will have an effect on feelings and the way the situation affects the questioner. 

The constellationer will closely observe and watch over the partcipants througout the constellation and relate whatever happens or is said back to the questioners question. In the end this leads to at least an insight on the question and in many cases also to clarity and a renewed view to the situation to allow a different aproach going forward.
